Transplant Journey: Supporting Nate & Katie Every Step
Donation protected
Hello Friends,
As some of you may know, our brother-in-law Nate has been going through a difficult and challenging time over the past couple of years. His days have been filled with physical, emotional, and mental battles, starting with a life-threatening episode of high ammonia levels (encephalitis), which began when our sister Katie found him unconscious at home and he remained unconscious in the ER for 15+ hours.
In August 2024, Nate’s health took another turn for the worse, and he was admitted again to Tampa General Hospital. At that time, they were informed that Nate had significant liver failure and would need to undergo a third liver transplant to survive. Since August, Nate has been undergoing countless tests and evaluations for his case to be reviewed by the transplant board and to receive final approval to be added to the transplant list. Because of Nate’s frequent hospital stays, weekly tests, and declining health, he has been unable to work. It is uncertain when he will be healthy enough to get back on his feet.
Currently, Nate is still hospitalized, and there is uncertainty about whether he will be discharged anytime soon. Nate has a long journey ahead of him still, but he is determined to fight and get back on his feet as soon as possible. Nate will be required to receive 24/7 home care post-transplant, and his recovery time will be several months at a minimum. As you can imagine, Nate and Katie are doing everything they can to get through this difficult and challenging time.
We are reaching out to ask for your support and financial contributions to help lessen some of the hardships they are facing. If you are able, we have set up this fundraising page to help support Nate and Katie during this difficult time. You may also donate through Venmo or send a check (just reach out to me and I can share their address). Every dollar donated and every share of this post on social media can make a tremendous impact.
If you would like to learn more about Nate's health journey and how he arrived at this point, as well as stay informed about his progress, we have created a CaringBridge account where we will share regular updates on his care. We kindly ask that you keep Nate, Katie, and their families in your thoughts and prayers and send him all the positive vibes and wishes you can.
We can't express enough how much your love and support mean to us during this time. Thank you for being there for Nate, Katie, Dozer, Roxie, and our families!
