Hello, I Joy Bellafaire , have dear friends whose son needs an urgent kidney and pancreas transplant. Many of you know that Judy and Dave Phillip's son, Craig Phillips, has been struggling with chronic renal failure requiring dialysis for quite some time now. His immediate family members include his brothers Jeff and Burley Phillips. Craig has also lived with  with type 1 diabetes for many years as well, and with his health rapidly deteriorating, his doctors recommend an urgent, double organ, kidney and pancreas transplant.

In addition to his health crisis, Craig is  a single parent to his adorable 5 year old daughter named Shannon. Craig lives in Sacramento, and has family living in San Diego, however his transplant surgery will occur in a hospital located in San Francisco. Craig will need to be in the Bay area for a period of time prior to surgery, to ensure he is within the 2 hour response range from the hospital, as is required when the call comes in that the organs have been found. Due to renal failure and diabetes Craig also suffers from extreme bouts of hypertension. The time is now for him to get medical and financial help.

Craig has several devoted family members including his brothers Burley and Jeff, who are actively involved and eager to help him. The family is able to assist with child care during this time, however the lodging and transportation costs, plus out of pocket medical expenses will be daunting for the family, as they will need to stay in the Bay area for an extended period. The family is already under severe financial strain, as they have additional costs associated with frequent travel to Sacramento where Craig and his young daughter Shannon live.

In addition to all of this, Craig recently had to step down from his full time employment status, as he has become disabled with his medical condition. Craig faithfully went to work every day for many years while simultaneously having  very time consuming home dialysis, and being a parent to a young child. He is no longer able to work due to his severe medical crisis.

The funds donated will help Craig pay for transportation and lodging for himself and his 5 year old daughter Shannon, in San Francisco before and after surgery, daunting out of pocket medical costs related to his transplant surgery, and child care. We have not begun to explore the costs associated with his recovery, and medical expenses after transplant. The post surgery medical stay, in the Bay area, for his daughter and family, plus rehabilitation, are other costs which this GoFundMe may assist with.
