Transplant Fund for Danielle Defibaugh
Donation protected
This is our beautiful daughter, sister, and aunt - Danielle. She needs a new pancreas and kidney to survive. We are thrilled to announce that she has been accepted to the pancreas and kidney transplant program at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL and is awaiting a match! She is expected to have a match quickly, within 6 months. The out of pocket expense for medications, co pays, and other necessities in the first year after transplant is estimated to exceed $10,000. Please help us finance these expenses so that Danielle can rejoin the work force and watch her nieces and nephews grow up.
More about Danielle’s journey:
Danielle was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 6 years old. Through years of daily finger sticks and shots, careful eating, and various complications related to diabetes she fought to live a normal, productive life. Despite this, diabetes took its toll on Danielle’s kidneys. Five years ago Danielle’s only child, Charlotte Elizabeth, was stillborn due to complications related to diabetes. Her pregnancy and the grief that followed further stressed Danielle’s system. Over the past 2 years Danielle has suffered chronic pancreatitis and End Stage Renal Disease, requiring hemodialysis 3 times a week. She lives with pain and nausea almost daily. Due to her kidney disease she has been disabled and unable to work since July 2017. She currently lives with her parents who help her manage her treatments and frequent hospitalizations. There is nothing she wants more than to regain her health and independence.
