Liver Transplant for Natasha Waithera
Donation protected
Natasha(Tasha) aged 21 years was diagnosed with Lupus in 2014.By the time of the diagnosis, the disease had damaged her liver (the target organ)substantially. She has since been followed up frequently by medical experts, to maintain the remaining functional part of her liver healthy.Last Year (2019)she got the first major flare up of the Lupus disease which landed her into hospital for a week and that affected the liver greatly. At that point, the doctors informed us that Natasha would need a liver transplant at some point in the future. On Tuesday February 18th (2020),she went for her routine follow-up and later the doctor called us back to the hospital as the situation was dire. Tasha's liver has completely deteriorated to the point the medication she has been taking is no longer helping the liver. The doctors have recommended that the only solution right now is a liver transplant. Tasha needs to urgently undergo a full evaluation for the transplant in order to begin the process. For her to be booked in for evaluation, the hospital needs a guaranteed sum of money to cover for the costs of medication which the insurance will not cover after the transplant. We need your help to raise this required amount of money as the as the process of transplantation will not proceed without the money secured in the bank. We thank you in advance for the support.
An update concerning Natasha's medical situation. On Wed March 11th after raising half the amount of money needed, the liver team at University hospital in Newark agreed to go ahead and start the evaluation process for Natasha so as to get her on the transplant list.
