Transplant Expenses for Val Crawford

Donation protected
Update- 7/26/22- Thank you all for your kind and generous support and prayers for our sweet friend, Val! Prayers are being answered! After weather delays most of last week and a sudden loss of room availability in Jacksonville, Val was finally air-transported to the Mayo Clinic on Sunday, July 24 and checked into her newly-assigned room. Her sister, Sonja, said yesterday was "a good day, full of tests, doctors and information. It's wonderful to make progress, and the doctors see her need for a transplant is immediate. Val is weak but can still speak for herself. She is looking forward to a new life with a new liver or a new life in heaven." Val is so very appreciative of all the support, both financially and through prayers! If you would like to mail Val a card, please private message Millie Huff for her sister's address, who will be happy to make any deliveries.

Those who know Val Crawford picture her warm smile, kind and gentle nature, and remarkable singing voice. You wouldn't picture Val lying in the ICU at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, fighting for her life. She is waiting for life-saving transportation to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, where she will wait for a life-saving liver transplant.

Val knew for a while that a liver condition could eventually lead to liver failure. Unfortunately, her situation became acute last month as the disease progressed rapidly causing numerous serious complications. After several hospital stays in Augusta and continuing to decline, Val was placed as urgent on the transplant list and was transported to Piedmont Atlanta, the nearest liver transplant program to Augusta. Piedmont referred Val to the Mayo Clinic because family support is crucial to the success of a transplant patient and Val's sister and her family live in Jacksonville, where they can provide the ongoing support and transportation that will be needed for the foreseeable future. She will need intensive care both before and after the transplant.

The expenses are daunting for her hospitalizations, air transport to Jacksonville, and the medical care before, during and after a transplant. Val currently has insurance through her employer, but that coverage will end soon. She also still has her home and associated expenses here in Augusta, where she hopes to return after her transplant and once her health has stabilized.

There are many miracles needed on Val's behalf-- continued strength for the best success with the transplant, for Mayo Clinic to approve her eligibility as a transplant candidate, for a matching liver to be found quickly, and for a smooth and uncomplicated healing afterward. Your prayers for strength, peace and healing are coveted for Val as well as for her sister and family as her caregivers. Please also pray for the family who will have to lose a loved one so that Val may receive the life-saving liver she needs.

Please consider a donation of any amount to help cover the many expenses associated with her care. As a single woman, Val solely depends on her ability to work and for work-related insurance, which will soon end. A contribution of any amount will help relieve Val's financial burden from healthcare and living expenses while so many other miracles are needed. Yet, Val's faith is strong; she remains optimistic and knows that her friends and our Jesus love her! On behalf of Val and her family, thank you for your consideration!
