For those of you who follow us on Facebook, you may have seen the beating financially we have taken this year. It's all come to a head today. This year has seen a lot of medical bills and now our much-beloved van has died. We have a good repair shop, they are lovely people and said it straight to us. If they could get the parts to fix it, it would cost 4-5 grand. That is the very definition of totaled. She took us just short of 260k miles.

The problem is paying a car loan at the moment. We are paying out about 400 a month to pay off medical bills from earlier this year. That is all of our extra cash.

To make it clear, we are doing fine. Mortgage and bills are paid, we eat well enough, kitties are well taken care of. But we don't have the ready cash to pay a car loan unless we can get rid of the medical debt.

So, at the gracious prompting of friends, we do this. We both hate it, but we do it. If we reach our goal, that clears the medical debt completely.

It's just bad timing. If this had happened next summer, we could have managed.
