Translate the homilies of Metropolitan Athanasios!
With the blessings of Metropolitans Isaiah of Tamasou and Athanasios of Limassol, Authentic Word Productions has begun work to translate the homilies of His Eminence Athanasios into the English language. Metropolitan Athanasios is the central figure of the book Mountain of Silence. After spending 16 years on Mount Athos near many holy elders including St. Paisios, His Eminence has the unique ability to summarize and explain complex spiritual concepts in a way that is simple and easily understood by the modern listener. Donations to this project will assist in supplies and time spent toward speedy completion of the work. May God bless this endeavor!
"This project began many years ago as an idea that I had, but I wasn't able to dedicate myself to it. You see, I have 5 kids and my wife stays home with them. I was always working some 2nd odd job to help pay the bills and support my family.
I recently did some work with a local Monastery, the Monastery of Macheras. I did a voice over for them and I thought... stop wasting time and get busy!
"So, I put my mind to it and started. The Fathers gave me the software and my wife and I began translating.
With God's help ...we should launch in late September or mid-October. The clip on Go Fund Me is an example representing our goal.
"The channel is called: The Authentic Word. I have set up the channel, but I haven't uploaded anything yet.
I want to have 10 videos finished and ready at the time of launch.
I will release 3, and 1 per week after that.
"There are over 500 homilies and we will keep going as long as the support is there.
I will also launch a Patreon in the future, but Go Fund Me is to get the initial 10 videos done and the project up and running; as well as for better equipment if necessary.
"8k dollars is a little more than 6k euros, and this will allow us to work exclusively on this project without me having to go and find some other form of work to support my family.
"I have set my mind to carrying on no matter what amount is raised as this is a project of love. The hardest thing has been to start, but we have started. I pray the Lord will bless us in this work. Metropolitan Athanasios had given us his blessing before we began. I have seen many videos in which someone is required to read. I personally don't find them edifying, but tiring.
"So, these will be his homilies, his words, his picture ... and my voice. This is an effort to bring authentic spiritual advice from a respected Elder in the Church (from the old country) to a thirsty English-speaking Orthodox world."
