Transform Getinet's Life: Support His Clubfoot Surgery

Donation protected

Who Am I/Where Am I From: In 2024, I launched an outreach mission, focusing on the Konso community. As part of my commitment to education, mental well-being, and physical health, I have dedicated resources to providing ongoing support to underserved areas.

My Relation to the Individual and who will receive funds: During this mission, I met Getinet—a young, kind-hearted boy. Though we spoke different languages, we connected in ways that transcended words. With unwavering enthusiasm, he helped rebuild a kindergarten school, demonstrating his resilience and generosity.

The Problem:
January is Birth Defect Awareness Month, highlighting conditions like clubfoot, which disproportionately affects Black children and is often corrected in infancy. Getinet was born with clubfoot in one foot, a condition that causes the foot to turn inward and downward. Left untreated, it can lead to long-term complications affecting bones, muscles, tendons, blood vessels, mobility, and the ability to wear standard shoes. Also, with visible birth defects one's mental health tends to be affected.

The Cause:
Clubfoot is a birth defect that occurs at higher rates among Black males. Getinet’s condition has persisted due to a lack of access to early medical intervention and lack of funds.

The Solution/How Funds Will Be Spent

I have arranged medical treatment for Getinet, but I need your help to make it possible. The plan includes:

  • Initial Medical Exam & Travel – Community leader Belachew (my direct contact), Getinet, and his mother will travel for an overnight stay for the initial medical evaluation and treatment plan. Funds will cover the exam, travel, and lodging.
  • Full Medical Procedure & Follow-Up – Funds will also support Getinet’s surgery, follow-up visits, and additional travel expenses.
  • Total Funds Needed: estimated at $1,000 – Every dollar will directly support Getinet’s treatment.
  • How Funds Will Be Distributed– All funds will be managed and released by me to directly pay for the expenses.

How You Can Help:
Your support can transform Getinet’s future. With access to treatment, he will gain the ability to walk without pain, wear standard shoes, and move toward a healthier life. Every contribution counts.

Let’s make this possible together.
