Enhance Della's Life with Your Donation

Hello everyone,

Here is the short version of our story: My family and I are trying to raise funds for a surgery for my daughter Della. We are launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise $27,000 to cover medical expenses to cover the surgery. Unfortunately, this surgery is only performed in a handful of locations, and insurance will not cover the cost due to being out of state/network. I'm choosing to do this surgery with the most capable doctor, Dr. Matthew Dobbs located in West Palm Beach Florida.

Here is the extended version of our story: Della lives with spastic cerebral palsy (CP), which is a neurological disorder that affects her movement, muscle tone, and posture. It was caused by abnormal brain development around birth. The severity of Della’s cerebral palsy limits her mobility, and she requires the use of a wheelchair, walker, foot orthotics and other adults to get around. Della is one tough little girl and has already had one major surgery (SDR) along with numerous rounds of Botox injections in her leg muscles. On top of this, she has been going to physical therapy for the last 8 years to help strengthen, stabilize and stretch out her body. Cerebral palsy is a lifelong condition, and while it is non-progressive (meaning it does not worsen over time), its effects can change as a person grows. As the bones in the body grow, the muscles struggle to keep up due to a lack of normal movement. Imagine walking on tiptoes constantly and being unable to relax your muscles fully. This is how Della tries to walk, which is why the PERCs surgery would help.

PERCs is a minimally invasive procedure in which the surgeon makes small incisions in the skin and uses a feathering technique to lengthen the muscle or tendon. The goal of PERCs surgery is to improve mobility, reduce joint stiffness, and allow an increased range of motion in the legs and hips, significantly enhancing Della’s ability to walk and function.
