Transform an attic into a hostel for refugees

Problem

As you probably know Russia has invaded Ukraine and is bombing the cities on the east side of the country. The bombings disrupted the infrastructure (heating, electricity, water, broken windows) and the supply chain (lack of food, medicine).

 

It forced the majority of people to pack only the most important things and to migrate to the west side of the country. Such a huge migration has caused significant overloading of the cities in the west.

 

For example, 99% of places to stay on Booking.com are unavailable for the next week. Currently, many people are willing to sleep in office buildings, on the floor, anywhere just to have a roof and be warm.

 

Solution

My uncle lives in Lviv and has an attic in the building where he lives. He wants to transform it into a hostel to provide a place to stay for the refugees. My brother is helping him.

 

Currently, the attic lacks insulation (it's cold in winter in Ukraine), beds, mattresses, bedsheets. He plans to build a bathroom and make the space livable in a short period of time. It will be able to host ~10-15 people. The priority will be given to women and children. He had already started working on that but ran out of money, thus he's asking kind people here who are willing to help.

 

They will report back and will provide photos and videos of the process and the result.

 

As a bonus, in the future, when the situation is stable (hopefully very soon) you will be able to visit Lviv and stay in this hostel.
