Help Bloom a Pollinator Garden at 54th & Shattuck!

Initial Goal: $10,000 | Stretch Goals: $20,000 & $30,000

We’re transforming an underused roadside lot on Shattuck Ave. @ 54th Street—next to the overpass near UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, Bushrod Park, and Temescal's vibrant business district —into a thriving native pollinator garden that feeds bees, butterflies, and our Oakland community.

Location: 5401 Shattuck Ave, Oakland, CA

Next to the redwood grove, currently an empty lot sometimes used for illegal dumpling— imagine what this blank canvas will look like in full bloom!

Thanks to our new Caltrans Permit, we have official permission to plant and care for this land—but we need your help to bring it to life!

NOTE: The renderings are artist interpretations and the real garden will look different.

Why This Garden Matters:

-It transforms an unused lot to a low-maintenance public green space with native plants, gravel paths, and sitting logs.

The current state:

-Supports declining pollinators like monarch butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds

-Adds beauty and biodiversity to North Oakland

-Serves as a community space for the neighborhood
