TRANScend: A Retreat for Trans and Genderqueer Folks
October 18 - 19, 2019
TRANScend is a gathering specifically designed for and by trans and genderqueer folks to teach each other, self-organize, create paths of resilience, redefine resistance, heal, socialize and deepen our social justice movements. We need you to make a donation today to support this important event!
TRANScend prioritizes people of color (POC) in our leadership and at our retreat. Our organizers are 84% POC, 60% Trans, and 40% Genderqueer.
TRANScend opened its 2019 registration season in August and already we are seeing the immediate need for scholarships. We want to make sure no member of our community is turned away due to lack of funds. In order for us to meet the financial needs of our trans & genderqueer community members, we need to raise these funds immediately.
All funds raised will be used to support:
*Full and Partial scholarships for retreat attendees (70% awarded to POC)
AND
*Stipends for Workshop Presenters and Healers (prioritizing black, indigenous, and people of color)
Having this financial support will ensure TRANScend's 3rd Annual Retreat is able to serve a deeply diverse group of folks across lines of race, ethnicity, gender, and class. It is more important now than ever for trans and genderqueer folks to have this safe space to come together as community to organize and retreat!
This year our theme focuses on “Becoming Beloved Community“, and being able to support our POC, Trans and Genderqueer communities, would be such a powerful affirmation of our communal power!!!
We are also excited to announce that TRANScend has created the “Muhlaysia Booker Travel Fund”. This new initiative is a fund that will assist Southern-based black trans women getting to and from our retreat for collective healing and solidarity. (For more details see below)
$125 covers a partial scholarship and $175 covers a full scholarship.

Muhlaysia Booker was a twenty-two year old African American transgender women who was assaulted and then murdered a month later in Dallas, Texas, in May 2019. The assault on her was captured in a video that went viral and sparked national attention. We are honoring this sacred Ancestor by keeping her name alive with our travel fund.
