Trans-affirming Surgery Recovery for Friend
Donation protected
Hello friends and allies!
I am raising funds for a dear friend and fellow mental healthcare worker who is scheduled to undergo gender affirming surgery on July 14th. No amount is too small! $5 could be a tip for a food delivery driver, $10 could provide relief
In an effort to maintain the privacy of this person, I won’t give all the compelling details of the situation. What I can say is that this friend is a QTBIPOC* mental health provider in the DC area. It is very important to them to be able to have this surgery now, in light of all the anti trans legislation being passed in this country, and fear that this care might not be available to them in the future. Their work involves providing emotional support to others (often other marginalized folks) WHILE they are trying to metabolize their own distress. They would like to take the two weeks following surgery off but they do not have PTO and they would need to supplement their income in order to be able to do so without falling behind on bills and essentials like groceries. Recovery from this procedure is approximately six weeks, but they believe they will be able to work after two week. This person is estranged from biological family and has very little savings. If you can, please donate to their recovery fund and pass on this request to others who may be able to help.
I know that this person would extremely grateful for any and all support.
