Urgent: Keep Lilian safe in Canada
Spende geschützt
Edit: This GoFundMe has been significantly updated, as some time has passed since initially launching it, and the couple in question are now managing it!
To give a quick TL;DR, the funds anyone helps with towards the remaining goal will be used primarily or entirely for:
• Submitting Lilian's PR application and work permit application via her spouse sponsoring her (Roughly $1200 CAD and $100 CAD respectively)
• Essential expenses like medication (outstanding prescriptions to fill are something like $450+ CAD for both Lilian and her spouse)
• And supporting Lilian's transition in general, particularly access to HRT, as she is basically coming out publicly during this move she's made- but there are other transition-related expenses that she has only started to work towards, having had 1 session of laser hair removal, only a handful of clothes in a very small and patchwork wardrobe, no other medical interventions, etc.
A longer body of information for those interested:
Hello. I am Lilian. I am a transgender (transfem) American citizen who has made a long, complex journey to Canada to stay with my dear Canadian spouse; we had meant to take on this endeavor next year, but the extreme surge in discriminatory legislation at every governmental level, as well as increasing anti-trans rhetoric and violence, forced me to come to Canada far earlier than intended, with much fewer resources than planned.
In order to do this, I had to give up all of my economic stability and resources I had accumulated back home, and come here with only the barest amount of possessions I could carry, or send in a handful of boxes.
Since then, me and my former-fiancé, now my beloved spouse, have gotten married and are beginning to collect the documentation and evidence required to submit for my permanent residency.
To facilitate this, funds previously donated were used for primarily essential expenses, and secondarily wedding expenses. My fiancé is disabled, and I can only do remote work for American employers, of which I have only found temporary contract work, so our budget in both regards has been difficult to manage- but we did pull off some semblance of a wedding with your help, among other resources (credit etc.) from myself and family members.
You have all helped immensely thus far, so I wanted to overhaul the description here to keep everything up-to-date and make sure there is as much transparency as safely possible.
The remaining amount of the goal, conveniently, is about the amount we need for submitting the spousal sponsorship permanent residency application, plus an amount we could use to catch up on some exceedingly important and neglected expenses, such as numerous medications we have not had the funds needed to fill in the last month or so (for clarity, some of you all helped with this recently, but I take something like 5-6 medications, and my spouse takes only a few less, so we were able to fill a few, but not all).
I hope this has made clear what progress we've made with your previous help, and what future progress can be made with any future assistance. Thank you all so much for your support in keeping me safe and with the love of my life- I desperately do not want to be separated at any point in the future, so this next phase is critical to ensuring I can stay here with them and start building our own life together.
I very desperately want to get on my feet and be able to support my spouse on my own, such that we can be independent of your and familial assistance- and also pay it forward to those in need if/when we have our own extra resources in the future.
