My name is Maya (in the black dress and cloak) and I recently got a new job. I'm the only one in my family able to work due to my wife's (in the suit) mental illness and our partner's (red dress) disability, and unfortunately my new job is a town away from where we're currently living. The bus routes in the area haven't been super reliable, and add 20 minutes to an hour to my commute depending on what buses are running that day. Due to our location there are some routes that don't run on the weekends meaning I would either be consistently late or unable to work weekends, which is not an option.
Because of the unreliable bus schedules I'll need a car to keep this job for any extended period of time. Having spent the last eight months looking for a job we've burned through our savings just trying to survive and have had to rely on help from friends and relatives for monthly bills and groceries. We have temporary housing but we can't stay here much longer. My family can't afford for me to lose this job, so I need to get a car as soon as possible.
My wife and I have looked at local used car dealerships and craigslist ads and determined that we'll need at least $4000 to get one of the more affordable used cars available to us. This will make sure I have reliable transportation to work, which will allow me to save up funds and get my family into a more stable living situation and not worry about the encroaching time limit of the end of our housing. My start date is somewhere during the week of May 12, 2019 to May 18, 2019.
All the money raised up to our goal will go towards purchasing a used vehicle, including fees and taxes associated with the purchase. Everything after that will first go towards related expenses such as insurance, cleaning, ect. If all of those are paid off with money left over we will be using what's left to buy groceries.
If you're able to donate that's amazing and thank you so much, if you're not able to donate please circulate the link to this gofundme and thank you as well. Either way we really appreciate the help, and look forward to declaring this a success and closing it down.
