Please know the cause of the fire was due to an air conditioner that caused this tragedy.
Calling all of my Car enthusiasts’ friends, I ask that we band together to assist Rick Deiters, owner of the iconic car shop, Trans Am Specialties of Florida who suffered a huge loss a week ago when his shop caught fire in the middle of the night. Rick Deiters of Trans Am Specialties of Florida being an iconic recognized name in the car industry. Many of us are friends of Rick and we all suffer alongside with him in this tragic accident. Rick and his family lost some iconic historical famous cars, irreplaceable restoration parts and memorabilia in the fire.
Rick is a great guy that has devoted his life to his love of Trans Am’s and he is well known and recognized all over the world for his passion and love of cars.
Due to the fire, Rick’s shop (building) has been condemned because the structure is unsafe, and he is unable to operate his business at this time. I, myself, being a car enthusiast am totally devastated to learn of the loss of the infamous Pontiac Trans Am which was personally owned by the late Burt Reynolds. As we all know, the Trans Am brand was impacted due to the late actor’s love of his beloved car in Smokey and the Bandit. Other cars in the devastating fire were sadly destroyed as well and others suffered severe damage from heat, smoke, and debris. The building that caught fire had at the time 40 cars of which 4 were a total loss including the Burt’s Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am which the actor personally owned himself.
This tragedy has impacted not only devastated Rick and his family but sadly all of his devoted employees and their own livelihood’s as well.
I ask that we come together as the car lovers of classic American muscle cars to help our friend, his family, his business, and his employees in this time of need. No donation is too small as we band together to assist Rick to rebuild his business.
I personally have known Rick Deiters and his family for many years, not only as a friend but we have done business together throughout the course of these years as well. I am saddened by the severity of the loss that my dear friend has endured, and all I want to do is to help him and his family and employees get back to the work that they love and are passionate about- CARS!
