While I was in California for 21 Project last month, God called me to join the Circuit Riders (a YWAM organization) this fall to train and to be part of their Carry the Love tour this coming spring! This tour is the reason I heard about 21 Project, and it has saved many souls and revived those who had previously turned from the Lord. I will be leading worship (Lord willing) and talking to college students about Jesus and his love for them. I never imagined God would call me to something like this, especially right in the middle of my undergrad at Calvin. When I first realized what he was asking me to do, I didn’t want to go. During the first week at 21, I had given God my “Yes” to go and do whatever he asked of me. When he laid this on my heart I was not happy about it. It was less about not wanting to go and more about not wanting to leave Calvin and everything I had planned for my life here in Grand Rapids. But Christianity isn’t based on how you “feel,” it’s based on the Truth that is scripture. Jesus called his first disciples to follow him, and they immediately stopped what they were doing and followed him to become “fishers of men.” They didn’t ask questions, and they didn’t make excuses or say no because they didn’t “feel” like it. We are not entitled to our own comfort when it comes to being a Christian and following Jesus wholeheartedly, so I couldn’t in good conscience say no to God. I decided that I would stick to my word and follow his lead, even if that meant giving up all sense of comfort and control. Thankfully, over the course of a few days of talking and praying with people about it, God softened my heart and I began to look forward to the journey ahead of me. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly towards my tuition for this program, as well as my flights and food.  Heres a look at the cost breakdown: $650 due: Aug. 15, 2018 - Registration fee + first month's rent $2,500 due: Sept. 21, 2018 - Lecture fee and housing $1,500 due: Dec. 15, 2018 - Tour Fee ***The total tuition costs come to $4,650. This does not cover any of my flights or food for the year; for this reason, they recommend a fundraising goal of $8,000-$9,000.
