Training at The Master's Seminary

The time has come! After 2 ½ years of online studies we must make the transition to The Master's Seminary (the formal training associated with pastors and preachers) in Los Angeles for Nathan to complete his studies for a Master of Divinity. We will need help in many ways… But especially for prayer as we prepare for this time of change. Our ultimate prayer is that Christ is glorified in our lives as we commit ourselves to serving Him.
Nathan was saved by the Gospel, through the clear preaching of John MacArthur, heard on a crackling radio in the middle of nowhere. As a new Christian, Nathan was nourished by faithful expository preaching on Grace to You radio broadcasts and free books sent in the mail. From almost the beginning, Nathan felt called and gifted to preach and teach the Word of God, and has been supported by several faithful, godly men and women. His desire is to be faithful to that call and complete his training for the ministry of the Word.
Our main challenge in seeing this to fruition, is having a plan for our 4 older children (ages 17-23) while we are away. We have been praying about this for some time and God has recently answered this prayer very clearly. The other main challenge we face is the financial requirements of living in California on student visas. In order to be permitted in the United States we must have approximately $40,000 Canadian in our bank account to ensure we can support ourselves while Nathan is attending school. As a student, Nathan has severe restrictions on the kind and amount of work he can do. We have extensively researched, consulted immigration lawyers and the seminary, and at this time there is no option for Christina to work. Nathan’s expected annual income will be $10,000 USD. This will not even cover our rent. Our efforts to raise the $40,000 will include the liquidation of all our assets (Nathan’s truck, most of our furniture and household items, Christina’s teaching items and more) but our possessions are humble and we don’t anticipate earning a significant amount this way. $40,000 is a big obstacle for us, but it is not for God, so we are moving ahead in faith, that if God wants Nathan to complete his studies, then He will provide the means for us to go.
Money raised through this gofundme will go directly towards the $40,000 Visa requirement (living expenses for the time we are in LA). If you feel led to support us with a cash donation, we are very grateful. Our commitment to our family, friends and supporters is to keep everyone up to date on our lives in Los Angeles and the progress of Nathan’s studies. We pray we will honour the Lord in the way we live and the means by which he provides for us.
We do not know what the LORD has in store for us and how the next days, months, and years will unfold, but we are excited to see how He works in our lives.
