In the late 1980's I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. In 1998 it was found that I also had a progressive Central Nervous System disorder. These two disabilities (I hate that word) proceeded to cause severe neuropathy in my legs, a vestibular disorder (keeps me from being able to drive), hypertension, severe joint pain. Let's just add in osteoarthritis and Type 2 Diabetes to name a couple of others.
As I've lost the feeling in my legs and my balance has become compromised it was suggested now would be a suitable time to get the Service Dog, I'd been thinking about for so many years. I was referred to a local trainer who helped me identify the type and breed of dog I would need (there are several). The best dogs for me are Labradoodles, Labradors, Standard Poodles, English Cream Golden Retrievers. They need to be 65-100 lbs., 23-28+ inches tall, with low energy and mild temperament. Phew, a lot of variables in this search!
First, I must find and pay for the puppy and then pay for his training. I know this will be a lengthy process but if I don't do it now, I may never again have the ability to follow through on everything.
This all is going to be an expensive endeavor and so I am asking for your help to raise funds. I promise to keep you updated with pictures etc. and please know you will always have my unending gratitude. If you ever have any questions, you know how to contact me. God bless you all!!
