Train a suicide prevention dog for Johndalyn
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katie and I'm fundraising on behalf of the Grimes family. Sheila, Dan, and Wylder welcomed Johndalyn, 12, into their family this year. She is bright, vivacious, and the most loving daughter and big sister. She loves movies, animals, and hanging with her friends.
Before she became a Grimes, Johndalyn's life was not easy. She has endured more than any person should, especially a child. Now that she feels safe and supported at home, she is beginning to process the events of her life, and it has taken an overwhelming toll on her mental health.
The Grimes family is purchasing a psychiatric service dog to support their daughter. His name is Blue. Blue will undergo an 11-week suicide prevention training, beginning Oct. 4, that costs $7,500. There, he will learn to perform tasks like checking a room for safety, reminding Johndalyn to take medication, sensing a panic attack and offering deep pressure therapy, and more. (Here's a detailed description of what a psychiatric service dog can do.)
If you are able, please consider contributing to offset the cost of Blue's training. A psychiatric service dog will bring a new and constant support into Johndalyn's life, as well as peace of mind for her family.
This is Blue, the goodest boy:
