Thanks to the sweetest friend of mine, Jordan Odell, a race is being held to honor and support my dad, who has been battling Lyme disease - a debilitating and complex illness that has turned his life upside down. In April my dad was healthy and so active - he was consistently running, lifting and staying active as Cal’s papaw. What started as unexplained back pain led to something much more serious. He spent months going to the ER, doctors visits, testing, and having worsening symptoms. Throughout all of this he was diagnosed with colon cancer, which praise the Lord, was successfully removed & found to be stage I with no further treatment needed. He was initially diagnosed with ALS at Cleveland clinic, and again, praise the Lord, was called back only a few days later to be made aware of a misdiagnosis. He was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease soon after. Since then, he’s been fighting daily through significant pain, the inability to walk independently, and the emotional toll it has taken on him. Although multiple treatment options have been tested, a successful one has not yet been found. My dad has always been the strongest person I know and it’s been so hard watching him struggle these last several months. I’m so thankful for this opportunity to honor him in something that he has always loved & also raise money to cover any past medical costs and future treatment options. Donations are certainly appreciated through this go fund me, but our family’s main goal is to bring more attention to this devastating disease and continued prayers for healing!
