Our dear friend Adam is in the fight of his life.
He has been diagnosed with Stage IV renal cell carcinoma and is battling every single day with such courage and fortitude.
Cancer treatment is unimaginably expensive, and Adam has not been able to work for some time. He has already undergone numerous treatments and therapies in Hobart, but the costs have drained the family’s savings. Recently, Adam and his wife Chan were told that trial treatments will not yet be available to them, and they must hold on another six months in hope that a spot opens up and they become eligible.
In the meantime, they have been turning to alternative healing methods, seeking pathways outside the western health system because, right now, science doesn’t have all the answers. The costs of both ongoing medical care and these alternative supports, alongside everyday living, are mounting.
Your contribution will directly help cover Adam’s medical expenses and provide some much-needed relief from the financial pressure that weighs heavily on the family. Every donation, no matter the size, I know will make a meaningful difference.
In the background, I’ve been training hard for the penultimate challenge: a 64km ultra-solo run on Bruny Island at the end of November. Along the way, I’ll also be taking part in the Labilladiere Peninsula Trail Run, Compass Club Cockle Creek half-marathon, Triple Top Mountain Run, and the KMR Knockers + a few extras where I can. Each of these events takes me deep into the rugged beauty of Tassie's wilderness, through forests, mountains, and coastlines. With every stretch of trail, I’ll be reminded of Adam and Chan's enduring strength and the determination it takes to keep moving forward when the road feels impossibly tough. I’ll be uploading images and videos of the journey so you can follow along.
“In the midst of suffering lies the seed of strength. We cannot choose the battle, but we can choose to fight it with courage.”
Adam and Chan embody this spirit every day. Their strength inspires all of us who know them, and now is our chance to stand beside them. Please give what you can, share this page widely, and help Adam and his family carry on the fight ⛰️
