Fire Damage Repairs and Relief

On December 16, 2023, a fire broke out and caused significant damage to our trailer, which will require thousands of dollars of electrical, carpentry and plumbing repair work . At this point in time, we don’t have electricity nor water.

This is primarily a fundraiser to assist in the cost of repairs but also expenses like food, water and blankets that have come up in the meantime.

UPDATE:

Plumbing: The pipes beneath the trailer were damaged and needed to be replaced entirely. We finally had an appointment set and the plumber replaced the pipes to allow us to get the water turned back on so now we finally have water again.

In regards to the electricity, we were able to get an electrician to cut the damaged loose wires enough to make it safe to turn the electricity back on. However once on, we found that the left side of the trailer (all outlets and overhead lighting) were dead. We have gotten several estimates from electricians on the electrical work that needs to be done to repair the issue and restore electricity, ranging from $4000-7000. We are shopping around because we don't want the electrical work to eat up the gofundme funds as there is still the matter of the carpentry work that needs to be done to repair the damaged wall (and possibly the subfloor) and the siding.

And hope that you all will continue to share the page so that we may meet our goal and complete the repairs before hurricane season.
