CP24 Report On October 29th 2018, a very sad tragedy occurred. at approx 2am in the dwelling of 84 year old Pinye Backerman and daughter, Inna Backerman who lived with him to care for her aging father. A neighbour called 911 to report smelling of smoke. Sadly, the elderly man was burned in a sudden blaze in his apartment as he struggled for his life from smoke inhalation. His daughter Inna not only lost her father in this tragedy but the outcome has essentially left her homeless, including all her belongings. Sadly Inna, who is also a single mother of 2, has only her friends and her children by her side as she has no siblings. Her mother passed away several years ago. We urge you as a part of the community and all who know Inna and know the struggles she’s already gone through, give whatever you can to help her get back on her feet and help pay for her late fathers gravestone. Her friends have taken her in for now but she desperately needs to find a home and have first and last months rent.
