Tragic fire that destroyed my mother's home.
Donation protected
On the night of October 19th around midnight, my mother's house caught fire. The fire started on the back patio on a grill that had been previously used many hours before the fire broke out. My nephew whom was living with my mother went outside to bring his dog in to go to bed. He discovered a small fire which had started at the grill. He went inside to warn everyone about what he had seen. Before anyone was able to extinguish this small fire that had erupted it had made its way to the propane tank. An explosion took place which busted out the surrounding windows and ignited that side of the home. The flames raced through the attic causing extensive damage. My mother's bedroom which was located next to where the grill was received the extent of the damage. It was gone. The fire department had no choice but to bust holes in the ceiling throughout the home just so the flames in the attic could be extinguish. This Home was built by my great grandmother and great grandfather. I was raised in this home as was my father and his mother. The extent of the damage to the home is irreplaceable. My mother is a widow in which we lost my father 3 years ago to a battle with leukaemia. It was unexpected. He passed around 2 months after his diagnosis. My mother is also disabled. She can not work due to accident that caused her to be completely blind in one eye. The house was paid for when my father passed. His life insurance insured my mother would have a home that no one could take from her. Due to my mother being by herself a number of things were not so affordable anymore including house insurance. The house is gone and will have to be demolished and replaced. I am searching for help to get my mother back into a home on her property so she can feel safe again. Our family has been through some really tough times but we have amazing friends and family to help us get through the hardest times. Together we can make a big difference in someone's life.
