Tragic death of mother and baby! Funeral Costs

Donation protected
My name is James Ramowski and I am urgently appealing for your help. Please read this tragic story, donate and share share share!!

Luke Powell has tragically and suddenly lost his wife and baby. We need to raise funds to pay for the funeral and enable their elderly parents to come from Jamaica to attend the funeral. This includes Visas, flights and accommodation.

We also want to help Luke relocate due to the post-traumatic stress of seeing his wife and child die in the home he lovingly created for them, a house that meant a new life together. He can't go back there after everything that happened on that sad day after what he witnessed.

He will need professional Counselling to process the trauma he has gone through. We believe we need to raise at least £15,000 for all of the above.

Luke was born in Portland Cottage, Jamaica. He spent his childhood living in Jamaica with his parents and siblings. From an early age, Luke was introduced to the Church and Music. He is a massively talented singer and entertainer and can be found on Youtube with his former band, "Reggae on the Rocks".

Whilst still living in Jamaica, Luke met Karlene who would later become his childhood sweetheart. At the age of 22, they separated and Luke migrated to the UK.

Over the past 20 years in the UK, Luke has dedicated his life to helping and entertaining others selflessly. He has given much of his time and money to those in need whether it is visiting elderly or disabled people, performing at nursing homes or charitable causes or just generally bringing joy to everyone he met. Luke is the kind of person that would share whatever he had to help others not go without and would never ask for help from others.

Those of you reading this who know Luke will be aware that his presence fills a room with happiness. Always laughing, joking and entertaining. His smile alone has brought joy to so many people. As a performer and personally, he has a massive following of friends and fans. Luke has been a devoted part of so many families in the UK and afar.

In January 2020, Luke travelled to Jamaica to visit his family. During this trip, after many years of unhappy and failed relationships, he was finally reunited with his one true love and childhood sweetheart, Karlene.

During his trip, they became very close and Luke and Karlene quickly developed very strong feelings towards one another. Sadly Luke had to return to his normal life in the UK and from then on they would spend every single day and night chatting falling further in love. Luke later proposed to Karlene.

Luke worked tirelessly in multiple jobs to raise funds to return to Jamaica and marry Karlene.

After long delays and numerous cancelled flights due to Covid 19, they eventually married in Jamaica on 17th May 2021. Luke then returned to the UK to continue working to sponsor Karlene to join him in the UK.

After many months of separation, endlessly working, and only being able to see each other by video chat, her visa to join him was finally granted, and on 5th August 2022, Luke and Karleen were finally reunited to begin what should have been a long and happy life together.

Luke and Karlene moved into their family home in October 2022. Luke spent all of his free time and money making this house perfect for their new life together.

One magical day, after thinking it may take some time to conceive and complete their family, they found out that Karlene was pregnant. Everyone was so happy and excited and at last, Luke would have all he ever dreamed of.

At the latest scan, they discovered they were having a baby boy.

In the last 20 years, he has been in the UK, and in the 17 years I have known Luke, he has never been happier. They were both so excited.

On Sunday 19th February, whilst enjoying a relaxing day at home together, sadly Karlene suddenly began struggling to breathe. Luke was able to help her and quickly called an ambulance. The emergency services arrived within just a few minutes when, unfortunately, she again struggled to breathe.

The medical professionals fought hard to save both Karlene and their baby.

He was expecting to be told they couldn’t save the baby but instead, he was told both his baby and his beautiful Karlene, aged only 37, had died.

After only 6 months of happiness and time together in the UK, within a matter of minutes, Luke’s life and everything he was living for were destroyed.

As I write this plea to anybody reading, I want you to imagine the pain, suffering and trauma this kind, loving and selfless man is going through. As his close friend and somebody he has helped so much over the years, all I want is to one day see the smile back on his face and for him to light up the room and the stage as he has done for so many people for many years.

I know his recovery will be long and hard and he has recently spent so much money bringing Karleen to the UK and setting up a home for what should have been their long and happy marriage so I am now asking for your so that whilst he attempts to process what has happened, he does not need to worry about how to pay for his wife and baby's funeral.

I am asking anybody who can, no matter how big or small, to donate for the following:

• We will need to urgently bring Luke and Karlene’s elderly parents from Jamaica to attend the funeral and for the family to grieve together. This means visas, flights, maintenance and accommodation costs.

• We hope to pay all funeral and burial costs for Karlene and their baby.

• As I hope you can all imagine, given the trauma, it is highly unlikely Luke will ever be able to return to their marital home and therefore we want to help him with any associated costs of finding new accommodation and getting settled in.

• Finally we hope with your support to also be able to pay for Trauma and Grief Counselling, as the NHS, we all know, has long waiting lists and can only offer limited services. We want to make sure that Luke receives the appropriate services and as soon as possible as he is suffering from terrible and terrifying flashbacks.

I urge you to kindly help this selfless, loving and caring man and aid his recovery by taking the financial pressures associated with his trauma and great loss.

I thank you all in anticipation of your kind support.
