Hello friends and family,
On June 5th Shane and I were in a motorcycle accident. Following the accident, we found out my pelvis sustained 6 fractures, along with 2 of my vertebrae being broken. Bumps and bruises are plentiful & there is no shortage of road rash. Though I'm thankful to not be paralyzed, I will be wheelchair bound and walker dependent for the coming future. Shane is recovering from mild injuries, while continuing to work, as I'm healing in the acute rehab facially.
After being examined by the paramedics, I was rushed to St Elizabeth Hospital, where they ran several tests and scans. They decided my injuries were not life threatening but needed the expertise of the UC trauma team and was transferred. After five days of back and forth with the orthopedic surgeons and trauma team they transferred me to the inpatient acute rehab facility.
Upon release, I'll continue to deal with outpatient therapy along with several other hurdles including being temporarily disabled and not able to work, while learning to navigate my new way of life.
As I'm on the road to recovery, I'm thankful for where I'm at, but it's going to take a village. My family, friends and I are currently working on the day to day responsibilities of transportation, groceries etc. but are also faced with the burden of medical expenses to go with the accident. At this time we are asking for prayers, donations, love and support.
Our goal is $9,000 to cover the insurance deductible.
We appreciate all the love and support we have already been showered with and we remain humbled and thankful.
The Bollmers
