Help Care Cards get trademarked!
I’ve spent the last several months developing Care Cards with my friend Ben Isakson, MD, a collaborative resource intended to facilitate building rapport between patients and providers, intended to facilitate communication, shared decision making and enhance healing outcomes.
The response I’ve received from nonprofits, friends, providers, attorneys, and medical schools has been overwhelmingly positive! Care Cards ARE wanted and needed! After consulting with legal advisors, it’s become clear that my next step in advancing Care Cards as an accessible resource is to trademark my intellectual property.
Including attorney fees to help complete and file necessary trademark paperwork with the federal government, I will need $5000. Trademarking my original designs and affiliated concepts will facilitate moving to the next steps of distribution, marketing, partnerships and other collaborative opportunities to advance not only the availability of Care Cards, but also to support my overall passion for improving healing outcomes, self- advocacy and building a bridge to our collective humanity. Additionally, this next step will be a springboard to achieve both short and long-term entrepreneurial goals I’ve established for the year. (More about this to come!)
Care Cards are poised for some truly incredible opportunities in 2026 which I look forward to sharing more about in the coming months. In the meantime, I graciously invite you to make a gift and join others that also value health equity and access, especially for those of us with disabilities and chronic health conditions.
We believe Care Cards’ applicability extends beyond the reaches of the hospital and into our community. Whether at work, play, therapy, school or any other social event, sharing a card to open up a pathway for self-advocacy, community, teamwork and inclusion.
