Tracy's Relief fund

Hello, my name is Roseann and I've created this fund for my best friend, Tracy LaFalce.

In the four decades of our friendship I can't think of a single time she wasnt there for me and every other person she knows without ever being asked. Even before you had realized you actually needed help, more often than not, Tracy had already saved the day while expecting absolutely nothing in return. Today, Tracy needs all of the friends she has stood by for so many years to be there to save the day for her.

While suffering from Lupus, Tracy was diagnosed with Protein C deficiency which is a genetic trait that predisposes one to the formation of venous clots. This deficiency has been further complicated by her additional diagnosis of Leiden Factor 5, which causes severe and excessive clotting.

In the last two years Tracy has spent the majority of her time in and out of various hospitals due to an endless quantity of blood clots forming in all areas of her body, although primarily her legs. She has undergone multiple surgeries to remove the clots from her veins.  Doctors have attempted to repair some of the damage caused by these clots; however the relief is brief and new clots form faster than the doctors can treat them.

Tracy has sought medical treatment through local hospitals and at the University of Michigan as well as the Cleveland Clinic in hope of identifying why her body has been unresponsive to the treatments to prevent or slow down the clotting. She has been subjected to test after test and an excessive amount of medications medical teams “thought might help;” however every attempt to find relief for this woman, my life-long best friend, has been unsuccessful. Today, Tracy has very little blood flow in her legs and is immobile most of the time. It is nearly impossible for Tracy to maintain any kind of quality of life.

Tracy’s condition is rapidly deteriorating and her body has started to reject nearly all blood thinners causing a large number of these clots to reach her lungs as well as her arteries.

Last week she was forced to face one of her worst fears. The medical team Tracy has been working with most recently, advised her they could no longer perform any procedure to relieve the clotting and advised her that the time had come to discuss amputating her leg. I'm sure you can imagine, Tracy, a 43 year old wife, mother of two and grandmother of one was devastated.

In a final attempt to save her leg, Tracy and her husband Dave will be traveling to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota on Monday to see if this prestigious medical facility can offer her relief, answers and a plan to save her leg. This visit to Mayo Clinic is crucial not only to her quality of life but to her life itself.

The trips to the out of town and out of state medical facilities at which Tracy has sought care are expenses that Tracy and her family have privately funded.  When discounting the actual medical expenses, Tracy and her husband must pay for air fare, lodging, transportation, parking fees and food. Tracy's immediate family has generously made many sacrifices to assist her during this difficult time; however her husband Dave has had to make some of the most difficult sacrifices with his lost wages and time away from work while he stands by and supports his wife at most of these hospital visits.

As her friend, I am asking all of Tracy's friends, past, present and future, to invest in the one thing that has kept Tracy going through all of this...friendship. Let's show Tracy that we can be there for her without her ever asking for help.

A goal of $10,000 has been set which would provide assistance with funding their trips to seek medical assistance, pay medical bills, assist with the purchase of medical supplies and future expenses. This will provide Tracy and Dave with a bit of relief while they continue to search for answers to Tracy's condition.

I hope you won't hesitate to help a friend who would give the shirt off her back or her last dollar she had to help you.

Thank you.
