Tracy Truncali's Medical Road to Recovery
Donation protected
This fundraiser was created on behalf of Tracy Truncali to support her during her hospitalization and recovery.
Tracy has touched my life in a way no one else has. She is a second mother to me and one of my dearest friends. She is a daughter, sister, mother of 3, a grandmother of a granddaughter and twin grandsons. Her soul is absolutely beautiful, a rare find, and she's spent her life making a positive difference in the lives of everyone around her. Tragedy stuck in mid-September when she was in excruciating abdominal pain. Tracy has undergone many testings, procedures and surgeries for colon, bowel, bladder and GI problems and is now two hours away at Thomas Jefferson hospital in Philadelphia, PA, where she could have more supportive care.
In mid-September 2021, Tracy Truncali was admitted to Moses Taylor Hospital ER for excruciating abdominal pain. She was sent for a CT where they found her appendix to be inflamed and that she had diverticulitis. She was given antibiotics and sent home a few days later. After being home few just a few short days, Tracy spiked a fever, her pain still excruciating, she ending up back to Moses Taylor Hospital and was Hospitalized for two weeks.
On September 22nd, after more testings/procedure they found her bowel was stuck to her bladder on the left side (a condition called fistula, which is an abnormal connection or passageway that connects two organs or vessels that do not usually connect). She had to have a catheter and continued on IV antibiotics as she awaited a colonoscopy for more detailed answers and word on surgery to close off the fistula.
On October 12th, Tracy underwent surgery to separate her main bowel from her bladder. They only had to operate on her small bowel, which was inflamed. Doctors were unsure what caused this to happen. Her Bowel was put back together, and bladder was separated. She had a drain tube placed to make sure there were no leaks. She needed a foley for about 10 days, until her bladder heals. She was intended to be discharged once Bowel function returned.
On October 17th, she had some setbacks. Bile was in her drain tube. Doctors said another surgery might be necessary. Her white blood cell count was very high and indicated infection. She was put back on antibiotics, they increased her pain medication, gave her a dose of magnesium to boost her nutrition, and sent her for another CT scan.
On October 18th at 6am, they took her in for emergency surgery. Her surgeon found a hole in her colon, and said something must’ve ruptured. They removed that section of colon & washed her out. Her surgeon said she will have a long recovery and that she’s not out of the woods yet, and that she will need to be monitored for a while. A tube was placed in her neck so she can recieve nutrition.
October 21st, Tracy took a turn for the worse. The surgeon is concerned she may have tertiary peritonitis. It’s a severe abdominal infection. She had a CT scan on October 20th and found she has more leaks in her colon and she has a small bowel ileus. Her surgeon said in his 30 years he has never seen something like this before. He said there are too many concerning variables that are happening too quickly and he can’t figure out what’s wrong. She has also developed pneumonia and is in extreme pain. She was transferred to Thomas Jefferson hospital in Philadelphia, PA. where they are hopefully more familiar with her condition and can have better supportive care. There will likely be another (3rd) surgery out there.
At this time I ask you to please keep Tracy in your thoughts and prayers, as we do not yet understand her road to recovery. She will have many obstacles to overcome.
Coupled with her shattered health come all the financial ramifications from a crisis like this. I'm praying that this fundraiser can help alleviate some of the financial pressure while she undergoes more testing, procedures, possible surgeries, recovery, and unable to work.
There is no amount too small to give. I've never known a person more deserving of our generosity. Any help would be greatly appreciated and richly deserved.
Thank you all for being a part of this cause, and for bringing some light into such a difficult time.
