Tracy Clemmons has been fighting her battle with Parkinson's Disease for many years, which is a disease that starts gradually and only gets worse over time.  Her walking, balance, and coordination have greatly worsened.  She has also experienced a steep decline in cognitive function over the last year affecting her memory, communication, and thinking.  Her husband Bob was her sole caretaker before he suffered a heart attack and died suddenly in 2019.  Her children, Natalie and Glen, have taken on the full responsibility of caring for their mom and have tried to give her the best care possible.  On June 1, they moved Tracy to a memory care facility.  Unhappy with her care, they moved her to a new memory care facility in Charlotte at the end of June.  On July 13, she fell and broke her femur, which required surgery to repair.  This fall was likely to do inefficient care and oversight by the facility.  Due to her Parkinson's, physical therapy has not gone as well as planned and she is still not receiving the care she requires, including administering her medicine on time. Due to COVID-19, neither Natalie or Glen are able to visit or help care for their mom in tangible ways.  Natalie has made an extremely hard decision and has decided to pull her mom out of memory care and become her sole caretaker.  Tracy will live with Natalie full time.  She is dedicated to making sure Tracy gets her medicine on time and receives the therapy she needs.  A direct quote from Natalie: "God prepared me for this.  I'm not ready to just let people continually fail at caring for her.  I only get one mom and I plan on sacrificing my life for her - she deserves that."  Wow, how inspiring.

All this being said, Natalie and Glen cannot fight this battle alone.  They are going to need the people around them, who love and care for them, to help in tangible ways.  There are some financial needs that need to be met for longterm care.  Once insurance stops covering PT, OT, and speech therapy, they will need funds to continue this needed therapy.  They also need funds for home care equipment products and assistive devices.  As always, there will be unexpected expenses that come up.  Let's shower our love on Tracy, Natalie, Glen and their family during this time.  If you can give, any amount would be greatly appreciated.

Can't give?  Thats's okay! Money cannot meet every need they have.  These will be long, hard days ahead and they will need our love, support, and encouragement.  Add them to your daily prayer list.  Send encouraging text messages.  Write them a letter.  Are you close with the family? Offer to be a caregiver for a day to allow Natalie to have a break. The family has also set up a meal train for Tracy and Natalie if that's something you would like to participate in.

Thank you so much for your willingness to give, pray, and love on this family.  Let's lift them up and show them we are all in this together.
