This is our story...
Our mother is Tracy Adkins and she is only 52 years old. She has been married to my dad, Jeff Adkins for 36 years. Together they have 6 children (5 girls and 1 boy), and have 13 grandchildren that they both love unconditionally. They pastor a church- Word Alive Christian Fellowship located in Cape Coral, Florida. Our mom, has battled with Crohn's Disease for 18 years. Earlier this week, our family received some pretty devastating news about my mom. Our dad brought her to a local hospital in Florida due to some complications she was having and in general not feeling well. It was then that she was diagnosed with Stage 5 Kidney Failure, also known as End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Her kidney's are functioning at less than 11% and she is in immediate need of dialysis to save her life. Unfortunately, at this moment our mom does not have any insurance, and without insurance they will not give her dialysis treatments unless there is no function of the kidney's at all. Basically meaning, unless her kidney's shut down completely and it is a life or death situation at that very moment, they will not do anything at all to put her on dialysis until she has health insurance. She was discharged from the hospital earlier yesterday, after receiving many amounts of potassium, calcium, and other needed medications due to levels being dangerously low. There is really nothing further they were able to do for her, except telling her it is absolutely necessary for dialysis. However, without health insurance we are at a stand still. My father is working on trying to get her the medical she needs, but with a pre-existing condition now it is very hard to get and if you do find one that will, it is very, very expensive due to now having a pre-existing condition. If any one knows of any programs that would help in this situation, please let us know. We are asking for donations to help our mother. All donations will go directly to her for medical expenses, to help her start the process of dialysis to save her life, traveling expenses, etc. However, even if you are not able to donate, in any event we ask for prayer. We know that God is bigger than any situation, and the power of prayer works. -
