Cesar Romero, a young husband and father, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, June 5.
Cesar, 26, worked at the Union Gospel Mission Men’s Shelter in Spokane, WA. In an environment that could tend toward the oppressive, Cesar brought the joy. He was kind, patient, forgiving, and very relational. From throwing a football with the guys to playing chess to cleaning up after a mess, Cesar had a true servant’s heart. Nothing was beneath him, and he managed to insert a little levity into every situation.
One of his co-workers said, “The beauty about his magic is that he didn’t know the effect he had on people. He loved people, and they knew he loved them.” The whole shelter (and everywhere Cesar spent time) was a different, and better, place when Cesar was present.
While he will be deeply missed by all, his death leaves a gaping hole for his wife and family. Cesar and his wife, Tracie, had a beautiful, 18-month-old baby girl, Ocean. They had recently moved to Post Falls, ID to be closer to family. As a community, we want to surround them with prayer, support, and care in this time of loss.
As a young family, there are many financial needs immediately in front of them. Our goal is to provide 6 months of living expenses + cash to cover any unexpected expenses. Please join us in whatever capacity you are able.
