Yesterday I woke up to a text from Traci's daughter that said "Hi Cathie, I want to chat with you this morning if you are available" I almost went back to sleep, but, something about that text was gnawing at me. I got up and planned to drink some coffee before I called her, I made it halfway down the stairs before stopping and dialing her number, before I even heard her voice, I knew something was wrong. Through choking sobs, she said Traci was in the hospital, for a couple of weeks Traci had been complaining (which for Traci was just mentioning, not really complaining) that she had been feeling dizzy and off balance. On Saturday, it escalated to her not being able to get out of the car. The girls rushed her to Hoag hospital. Her list of symptoms surprised the girls, they knew about the dizzyness, but not about her having numbness in her legs and feet and a litany of other things. Traci was immediately sent for an MRI, while Nicky and the girls waited for results, their hope was that she had an inner ear issue, something simple that could be remedied easily and quickly. But, the MRI showed that Traci has a tumor located in her brain. The doctors say its typically a secondary cancer, meaning it came from another location. The good news is, they have not been able to locate a primary source. Traci is scheduled for surgery today to remove the tumor. We will learn more once the surgery is complete and they will be able to biopsy the tumor.
She will be unable to work for awhile and Nicky and the girls will need time off work to care for her. Your donation will go directly to them to help with bills, medical and otherwise since they will be off work and Nicky will have to hire someone to take over his regular work schedule. Please consider helping out this amazing family that has been through so much lately.
