Tracey Moore (Drouillard)

If you’ve found this page, you are one of the lucky people to know Tracey Moore. Tracey is one of the most selfless humans we know, and at this time, she needs an abundance of prayers, love, and positive thoughts.

We have started this page to allow Adam (Tracey’s husband) to focus on supporting Tracey, without the added burden of sending constant updates. Adam has been by her side throughout this incredibly difficult time, advocating for her and supporting her every step of the way. To allow him to remain fully present with Tracey, we will be using this page to share updates on her condition and to help alleviate the many messages coming his way.

Below is an update to bring everyone up to speed on the last few days. We will continue to post updates as we are able.

On Monday, January 26, Tracey underwent a Ross procedure in London — a scheduled heart surgery that she had been preparing for and waiting on.

Following surgery, it was expected that she would remain on a ventilator as part of her normal post-operative care, and that she would spend approximately a week in hospital recovering.

Unfortunately, within hours of surgery, Tracey experienced a very serious complication called a thyroid storm. This rare and life-threatening condition can be triggered by trauma or surgery and could not have been predicted.

By Monday evening, doctors needed to start Tracey on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy), and multiple other life-sustaining medications in an effort to stabilize her. In the middle of the night, surgeons performed an emergency thyroidectomy (removal of Tracey’s thyroid) in a final effort to save her life. She was given a very slim chance of surviving the surgery, but she has shown us all just how much of a fighter she truly is.

As of today, January 29, Tracey remains on ECMO, a ventilator, and CRRT. She continues to face challenges related to fluid overload and maintaining stable blood pressure. While there have been no major improvements, there have also been no significant setbacks.

For those asking, Avery and Finley are currently with their grandparents. We kindly ask that you act with caution if you are around them, as they have been shielded from the severity of Tracey’s condition.

We are deeply grateful for the exceptional care Tracey is receiving, and for the love and support being shown to their family. Please continue to keep Tracey, Adam, and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. Updates will be shared as we are able.
