On May 30th Randy Hackett was taken to Munson Hospital in Traverse City, Michigan and diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm.  It was determined to be too risky a surgery to perform there, so Randy and his wife, Trish were airlifted by NorthFlight helicopter To University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor.  He underwent emergency open heart surgery the next day on Thursday. The 8 hour surgery was very risky and difficult, but it went very well and the aorta was repaired! Absent any post-op complications, Randy ‘s recovery will take many weeks.

Randy is well known in the Grand Traverse area as a musician, known as Big Rand and plays at many venues. He works as a  driver at Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) and has many friends there.

Randy and Trish (“Lunch-lady” at TC West HS) are beloved in the community and elsewhere and there are many prayers being sent out for them both.  Although Randy has health insurance through work, there will be huge expenses above and beyond what insurance will cover. Also there will be lost wages.

Please open your hearts and purses to give whatever you can now, and come back later to add to your gifts! The overwhelming generosity we have seen so far is wonderful!
Thank you all.
