Hello my name is Jose Lozano I am 22 year old that just had a big surgery done cause of a tumor I had on my jawline. We don't know what caused the tumor to happen but I had gone just to get a regular cleanup on my teeth with my primary doctor and had done some x-rays to make sure everything was good. He then noticed a big ball on the back side of my mouth not knowing it was a tumor growing. So he sent me over to Fresno Community Hospital to specialist he knew could look into the problem a little more. I Then went to go get checked and they were able to locate where it was growing from and they took a chunk of it out for examination and sent over to San Francisco to other specialists. A couple weeks had gone by and then I was called back to the Hospital. When they had told me that I had a tumor growing on the backside in this situation it also was eating up my wisdom tooth and my jawline bone. From there I started to have a lot pain that would go up my ear and give me headaches from time to time. The doctors had also told me that they were trying to figure out a method to where it could stop growing and shrink but the tumor had grown to big to do that so they had no other option but to do the surgery done to avoid it growing upwards to my brain. They had told me that the tumor had grew about 5cm big. From there they explained to me about how the procedure will be down. I had to undergo an 18 - hour surgery. So I had to get a bone taken out of my right lower leg to remoled it to the same size as my jawline that I had. they had to cut me open from my knee down to my ankle extract the bone out and close it back up. I had to be in a boot for about 2 months with staples in my leg to make sure that it would heal properly. I also had to get a skin graph taken from my right thigh to cover up the hole from where my bone was taken out from for it connect and heal. I also am not able to feel or have a lot of sensation of my right foot. Following that on my upper body where my tumor was located I had to be cut open from ear to ear with a breathing tube on my neck I had to lose all my teeth from the right to a little passed the middle half of my mouth. My face was so swollen from the surgery I couldn't eat regular food for about two months. While in the hospital I had to be monitored 24/7 with nurses and doctors that would check up on me to make sure no complications would occur , also I had to be on a feeding tube thru my nose. I wasn't able to breathe on my own for about 3 days in the hospital. I was then discharged and able to come home to for more recovery. While being home recovering my mom had to stop working to take care of me because I wasn't able to shower alone because of the boot and because of all the stitches and staples I had on my throat and leg from the surgery. Slowly but surely my wounds started to close up and heal. Family and I have passed through a hard time these past couples months but I hope that soon I will be able to be myself again and go back to my daily activities I had such as working, going to the gym, doing my favorite hobbies.
Thank you I appreciate your time in reading this and I hope I can reach my goal and make this process happen for me.
