Matt’s fundraiser for Brain Tumour Research
Hi, i’m running the Valencia marathon this December to raise as much as possible for Brain Tumour Research and honour the memory of my dear friend Sam Browne.
Sam was diagnosed with an inoperable grade 2 astrocytoma after suffering a seizure in March 2019. He underwent treatment immediately; a biopsy followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy to some initial success. In July 2023, he learned his tumour had developed into a grade 4. He died less than two months later, aged 28.
Sams character matched his size. His laugh was like a fog horn and incredibly infectious. He is so deeply missed.
Brain tumours are the leading cause of cancer deaths in children and adults under 40 yet brain tumour research is, and sadly remains, woefully underfunded receiving just 1% of the national spend on cancer research in the UK. This needs to be way higher !!!
I am fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK.
Please help fund this cause to accelerate improvements in treatment and care, so that we can beat this condition and save lives!
