We are starting this GoFundMe page for our son and brother, Tracey Roberts. Tracey was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Tonsillar cancer on 7/29/2025. Tracey has a 14cm cancerous mass where his right tonsil used to be. As you can see in the pictures included, it is a large tumor and is Stage 3. Tracey will undergo a 7-week treatment plan which includes 35 radiation and 7 chemotherapy treatments. He will be facing a minimum of 12-16 weeks off work and significant out-of-pocket costs. Thankfully, he is covered by insurance, so his medical bills will be paid now that he has met his deductible and out-of-pocket costs totaling $9000. Unfortunately, Tracey is not covered by short-term disability by his employer. Tracey has applied with the wonderful cancer foundations in our area and will receive some assistance during his time off, but has and will face a significant financial loss. Tracey has applied for SSDI through the Social Security Administration. However, unless he is off work for 1 year, his benefits are not guaranteed and it will take 2-3 months for them to even make a decision. Any fundraising or donations will not affect either the decision or his benefits if awarded.

Goal

Our goal is to hopefully raise enough money to cover Tracey's lost wages and medical bills from his deductible and out-of-pocket costs. We do not want him to be in financial ruin after battling cancer and surviving. Tracey has an 85-90% chance his radiation and chemotherapy treatments will cure him. If they do not, further treatments or surgery could be required. Tracey's cancer is caused by HPV, which makes it less aggressive and easier to cure. But, there are no guarantees. At 16 weeks of lost wages, the total is $17,280 and medical bills are currently at $9000. We only wish to help him, so we are setting our goal at $25,000.
