Misty’s recovery

Hey everyone

My mom would hate that we’re doing this, but at some point, I think she has to realize that taking help is okay and we’ve hit a wall..

As some of you may know, my mom has multiple chronic illnesses, COPD and MS being two of them.

She works so hard and tries to be as independent as possible, but this time she’s pushed it a little too far.

The last few days she’s been hospitalized with a severe COPD exacerbation episode and it’s uncertain when she will be able to return to work. If I’m being honest, this is the worst we’ve ever seen her. Her ability to complete even small everyday tasks has become difficult due to her compromised breathing and I can’t watch her push herself much longer, because if she does, she will not make it. She needs to focus on her health and getting better.

However with a single income and a signed year lease, her stress over money is outweighing her need to care for her health.

After exhausting our efforts to get her on some sort of assisted program, we’ve come to learn that the system wants you to become almost homeless before they’re even willing to lift a finger to help.

No matter how sick or disabled you may be, they want you unemployed or making an unlivable wage for a certain amount of time before even considering to help.

My brother and I’s goal is to get enough money raised to help cover her bills for the next few months, while we work on building her a disability case.

Our mom can’t leave this world yet, she’s too young and we have too much left to experience with her. We’ll focus on her finances while she focuses on not only surviving, but thriving again.
