Update 08/19/25
My Health Journey:
A Testament of Resilience
Life has a way of challenging us in ways we never expect. My health journey has been a rollercoaster, marked by multiple battles with cancer and the toll it has taken on my body and spirit. It all began with a kidney tumor, a shocking diagnosis that led to the discovery of Hodgkin's lymphoma. Just when I thought I had faced the worst, my fight continued with multiple myeloma. Each diagnosis brought new challenges, but I was determined to persevere. The treatments have been grueling. I've undergone quadruple bypass heart surgery, wrestled with diabetes, and faced severe joint disease affecting my hips, spine, hands, and ribs. Most recently, I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, which has added yet another layer of pain and discomfort to my daily life. Beyond the physical toll, the financial strain has been devastating. I’ve had to sell everything of value—my home, my business, my jewelry, and even my cherished guitar collection. My retirement accounts are gone, leaving me with nothing but the will to survive and my faith to guide me through this darkest of times. As I look to the future, I'm at a critical juncture in my treatment. I need to complete a final cycle of medication, which comes with enormous copayments, before I can move on to CAR T-cell therapy. This therapy holds the promise of not just extended life but the chance to live it more comfortably. Following that, I will need lifelong maintenance drugs to help me manage my condition. This is where I need your help. I am reaching out to my community, asking for support as I navigate these next steps in my journey. Every bit counts, whether it’s a kind word, sharing my story, or any financial assistance you can provide. Together, we can help ensure that my fight continues, allowing me to focus on healing and making the most of the time I have left. Thank you for being part of my journey. Your support means the world to me.

***UPDATE***05/16/2024The countdown is on Entering the 12th month of partial Remission!! I wanted to share with all my friends and family who are still here by my side, fighting with me. Through your prayers, love, & support, I am still here. There is good news and bad news to share but the way I see it, every day I wake up is a win!! I am approaching the end of the 12th month of partial remission and after the 28th of this month I will do another bloodwork that hopefully will confirm that all my blood markers have remained stable and improved. With no sign of cancer present. The only issue I’ve had this month is not being able to afford these last 10 days of meds, I literally took the last pill this morning, and have no resources to get the rest. So I decided to sell, & pawn whatever I own of value. Literally recorded the last songs with my guitars so I can sell & pay for my treatments. Don’t worry I’m not asking for any donations, those who can and want to you know how to!  The bad news is that the cancer has done its damage, myeloma affects the bones. The fracture in my Ribs, Hip, S/I Joint, hands, sternum and now my spine are more prevalent than ever. The pain is quite unbearable and I have to prepare for what’s ahead. The fight isn’t over yet!!!  I have numerous compression fractures in my spine and have been diagnosed with vertebral metastases. I will need a surgical procedure called Cement augmentation, where they fill in the fracture cracks to help relieve the pain temporarily, also I am seeking a new surgeon to fix my left hand which never healed properly. Not calling the win before time, but Cancer is losing this one #Saulbeatscancer #cancersurvivor #MultipleMyeloma https://gofund.me/e26ab8a6UPDATE for 9/6/23The fight has been difficult but nonetheless worth every effort. Finally being told I was in full remission was great news, but the fight is not over.Because multiple myeloma has no definite cure, relapse is certain. That’s why following the maintenance protocol is so important.Unfortunately remission and the maintenance comes at a cost  The med I have to be on cost over $24k for a one month supply, insurance covers most of it along with a copay assistance from the pharmaceutical company leaving me with an $1800 copay every month. We are appealing with both the drug manufacturer and health insurance.Through all of this I have been suffering through the side affects from both the meds and cancer including bone issues in my hands, feet, ribs, hip, and back.Several surgeries have been scheduled as we try to repair the damage cancer has done. Thanks for your prayers and support #SaulBeatsCancer***UPDATE**** 05/01/2023Wanted to share an update with everyone There has been amazing progress in my fight with cancer, I have maintained Partial remission for the past 6 months, have been on a few maintenance meds and clinical trials, checking blood and doing scans every 4 weeks.Although there is no absolute cure for Multiple Myeloma, Full remission is possible. Many patients have lived beyond the 5 year mark.So many things have gotten better for me, my kidney function is stable and better than it has been in 6 years, I went from stage 3B almost stage 4 kidney failure to now normal. My diabetes is stable, and for the past 4 years since my open heart surgery my blood pressure is normal. The biggest challenge has been dealing with the damage and chaos the cancer has caused on my bones including my hands and fingers, my hip, sternum, ribs, and now my knee and femur.Fighting through this next and hopefully last hurdle by starting a special treatment that targets this type of cancer and the health of the bones. Thanks for all help God bless #SaulBeatsCancer By now you may be familiar with my journey.I have been fighting for a little over 6 years now, there different types of cancer and recently a fourth type added.Kidney cancer, lymphoma, Myeloma and now breast tumor.I had to have Quadruple bypass heart surgery, have bounced back from kidney failure, diabetes, Bone lesions caused by the cancer that made holes in my Hip, hand, ribs, back and sternum.Recovered from numerous orthopedic surgeries, including both hips and hands.Chemotherapy, immunotherapy, trial drugs, stem cell transplant, Car T Cell therapy, changes in diet, detoxes, and some therapies I can’t even mention.I am closer to a remission than ever, but I can’t do it without help.Your donations and prayers have kept my faith alive and have helped me continue to fight.#SaulBeatsCancer
