"I usually don't post stuff, but I want to tell a story. I want people who I don't see often to know what's going on with me, and my story has a lesson. In May of 2013, on the Friday before Mother's Day, I was getting ready for bed and found a lump in my left breast. It turned out to be cancer and I had a lumpectomy and radiation. Fast forward to last month, almost 5 years to the day, I found another one. This one couldn't even be detected by a mammogram. So in a few hours, I am having a double mastectomy. Instead of comments (not necessary), send love, prayers, good vibes, and healing thoughts. The lesson is this...do self exams, be your own advocate, and know your body."

As Chrissy's close friends, our goal is to spread the word and raise enough money to help Chrissy while she is healing, as she is currently unable to work the three different jobs she typically does to make ends meet. Earlier in the year, she also used up all her sick leave to care for her son while he was ill, leaving her with zero hours of sick leave. The cost of living in the Bay Area and raising a child on your own is expensive. These funds will go towards supporting Chrissy and her son.
