Stop Costco in Palm City
Donation protected
Due to lack of government representation and resources, a group of locals, calling themselves the Palm City Preservation Group, has banded together to stand up for their town. They need financial funding to enlist professional aid in furthering their cause. The most critical need is to debunk the flawed traffic study that Costco has had preformed. The issues that it presents mean that with its false information and presentation, they could get approved. However, it is clear that the numbers within the study are both non-compliant and skewed. It is up to the citizens of Palm City to prove this information is false and misrepresented by hiring an independent Traffic Engineer to run a separate study/survey and debunk the one in the hands of Costco. Currently, with some research, there is a willing company to complete a new study for an estimate of roughly $6,000. If the fundraiser is able to raise that amount in time to show the Board of County Commissioners that Costco has no grounds to build, it would be the win to the fight.
Big-Box store, Costco, wants to selfishly build on a dangerous, historical, wetland property that would ruin a self-sustaining and economically-efficient small residential community. Its development would have a poor impact on our atmosphere. And, fundamental living conditions would be affected negatively, changing the town we know and love, forever. The particular site location is targeted to service a 5+ county radius in a town that has no commercial development and no large retail other than Publix. People of the town choose to live here for the slow, safe lifestyle and accept that they travel over bridges or few miles to shop to preserve that. If a big box store like Costco builds here, so much of the town is at stake: children's safety (2 schools in very close proximity), pedestrian safety, home safety, home values, assets, loss of green space and wetlands, wildlife preservation, and traffic control. Palm City townies are making countless efforts and diligently researching to prevent this catastrophe from happening. It cannot be taken by flaws in traffic studies, oversights on wildlife preservation/extinction, fabrications from Costco, and those working in favor in the town to cushion pockets. The town is not willing to be vunerable to such harmful actions and takes a stand!
Thank you for supporting our cause! Your donations will able us to take immediate action in legal process to preserve the town that is dear to many!
