Hi everyone!
My name is Jessica and I am a graduate with a Bachelors of Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor who will be heading to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in August 2015 to pursue a Masters of Science in Public Health in the Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health. Johns Hopkins has been a dream of mine for the past couple of years and I need your help to make my dream a reality.
I will be moving from Ann Arbor, MI to Baltimore, MD in August of 2015 and unfortunately, moving is expensive. This project is to support me and my intial gradute school expenses such as paying my Johns Hopkins enrollment deposit, rental car fees, security deposit on my new apartment, and the costs of setting up a blog that I will begin posting to at least once a month for the next two years. Every little bit counts!
As an incentive, anyone who meets the following amounts will receive the rewards listed below:
$15 - Receive an email from me with the link to the blog when it goes live in July 2015. This will be an amazing way for my loved ones and others to be able to see what is going on in my life and I look forward to being able to share my experiences with those who are so generous to help getting me started on this journey of a lifetime.
$50 - Receive a thank you letter written personally by me. I want to let you know just how special you are to me :)
$75 - I will send you a hard copy of pictures from my graduation from the University of Michigan
$150 - I will skype call you from Baltimore for about 15 minutes once I move into my new place and get everything settled.
$500 - Your choice for a topic of blog post! If you think of something that you would really like me to address on my blog and you donate $500 or more, I will take my time to create some really cool content about it.
I grew up in Livonia, MI and attended Winston Churchill High School where I was a graduate in the Math, Science, and Computers Program (MSC). Attending U of M was an amazing experience for me and I am thankful that I had so many people here in Michigan who helped me to enjoy my time here. When applying to graduate school, I knew that a graduate degree in public health was going to serve my interests in Maternal and Child Health best and I applied to U of M, Columbia University, and Johns Hopkins to do just that; I was accepted to all of the schools that I applied. All of the programs are ranked within the US News and World Report top 5 Public Health Programs. I feel blessed and honored to be accepted into 3 of the 5 top schools in the nation for my field.
Johns Hopkins' program is by far the best fit for me. 1st of all, I will have the opportunity to become engaged in international work. I will also be able to have the opportunity to get involved with more policy reform, as Baltimore is just a short drive from our nation's capital. I will be able to have experiences living outside of Michigan for the first time in my life. Finally, the program has been ranked #1 in public health for the past 20 years. This is an honor and a privilege that I worked so hard to be able to pursue.
Please help to make this dream of mine a reality. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me! I look forward to sharing my life with all of you.
