Please help single mother Bobbie reclaim her life!
Bobbie Mauss, an ER nurse, worked countless hours helping others as one of our beloved medical heroes during the pandemic, and now she is the one in need of help.
The help she needs is in the form of surgery to have her diseased and non-functioning stomach removed.
Bobbie has Gastroparesis - which developed after a viral infection, a complication due to her health history with Lupus and Systemic Sclerosis. Her symptoms include but are not limited to: consistent and severe pain, nausea, vomiting, malnutrition, and overall weakness.
Her physicians strongly believe a gastrectomy and reconstructive surgery will bring her back to health and wellness and vastly improve her quality of life.
She devastatingly lost a long-fought battle with United Healthcare insurance company over whether or not they’d cover this life-enabling surgery. This consisted of hundreds of phone calls and three denied appeals in which doctors' notes and recommendations wouldn’t even persuade them. They also stonewalled Bobbie despite a written request directly from her surgeon, who continues to advocate for her. Bobbie endured multiple emergency room visits from infections and four different feeding tubes during this process.
Amid this exhausting and disheartening process, she also lost her job as an ER nurse.
All of the above, and six months later, her health is failing and on the decline.
She managed to stay financially afloat for several months (even with a steep increase in medical bills) thanks to her hard-earned and sensibly built-up savings. Still, she recently found herself completely drained of said savings.
She's had to give up her apartment and independence, moving herself and her children in with family to provide a sense of consistency while awaiting surgery to stabilize her health.
She has exhausted every possible avenue and is out of options. Her main goal is to get back to health to once again get back to work as a nurse and provide stability for her family.
If you are in a place to contribute, please do so.
Bobbie desperately needs this surgery, and we want her to receive the care she’s tirelessly and lovingly provided for so many others time and time again.
Whatever amount you can donate - be it $1 or $1,000 - will go a long way. Any aid in minimizing her out-of-pocket expenses will be gratefully and humbly accepted and responsibly utilized.
If you cannot make a financial contribution now, please consider sharing this post. You never know if a friend of a friend can donate.
Thank you. We are truly blessed when we have our health; we sincerely appreciate all of you who can donate and help spread the word by sharing.
