Below is an excerpt from a note Paninat sent to the office regarding JT's story.

"JT fell sick quickly in the first week of October. He started having symptoms such as fatigue, he said his head hurt when he ran a week and he said he had stomach pain early on. He kept saying "myself hurts...help me mommy." He came home and slept, occasionally waking up kicking and screaming. My husband and I knew that something really happen to him and he was not himself. So we decided to take him to the ER. At the hospital he continued to be erratic and delusional. The LP showed elevated levels of spinal fluid, CT scan didn't show anything. A few days later the MRI showed swelling in his brain.​ ​He then lost all ability to walk, speak, and eat due to suspected autoimmune Encephalitis of unknown origin. We were in shock of everything that just happened so quickly. All I could do at that point was just whisper to him and told him that we will go home soon and I need him to be strong.
We were in the ICU for 2 weeks. After an extensive workup, excellent care, and the right treatment, he has made a dramatic recovery and I am happy to share that he is now at rehabilitation- Blythedale Children Hospital where he can continue his work at getting back to his little self. We can’t wait to come home altogether and he can get back on his motorcycle again "
