Friends and family, my Ari update comes with a huge success and still, another challenge… the TPLO surgery on her right leg went better than we could’ve imagined! I was hoping for the best possible outcome but came prepared for much less, until all fear was silenced by Ari’s resilience ❤️
We are approx. 15 weeks out from the first surgery, and she has near full mobility in her right leg. Needless to say, the surgery was beyond worth it.
Pre-op, her “good” leg was bearing full body weight for a long time, and continued to do so while she healed post-surgery. We were warned by the vet that the left leg would eventually require the same surgery, due to the nature of this degenerative disease, but we were hopeful to have some time in between to buckle down and save up.
3 weeks ago, we noticed her lack of ability to bear weight on the left side, and have accepted that it’s time for the left side to receive the TPLO procedure. We’ve had her on pain medication while we discuss the best plan of action, but this medication is very hard on the liver, and is not sustainable long term.
Since the last surgery, we have worked hard to save as much as we can in preparation for this day. I even found a vet who is able to perform the surgery for $1k less than previously quoted. That puts us at a new goal of $6k!
You were all so gracious with your donations, it feels more difficult now to ask for anything else from you, but her adventurous spirit is not ready to give up, so I can’t either. If you can share her story, or donate whatever you can towards our goal, it will make a world of difference, thank you ❤️
with love forever,
Faith & Ari
