Donation protected
"Camp Tenzin": Katmandu, Nepal
Hi friends,
As you all know, Nepal was recently hit by a devastating earthquake and aftershocks. You have heard the news reports and have probably seen the images, so I do not need to go into details here about the general situation.
A good friend and former work colleague of mine is from Nepal and is currently a resident of Katmandu where he has been involved in several entrepreneurial ventures. His name is Tenzin Gonsar. Here is a link to his LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=69551811
I contacted Tenzin over the weekend to confirm that he was alright and to see if there is anything I can do. Tenzin is fine and true to his character, he is organizing a local effort to help support the recovery. In particular, he is setting up an ad hoc "summer camp" for kids. This will be a known safe place where parents can leave their kids during the day, knowing they will be supervised and receive good food and care. This will be a very important and enabling service as the parents work to recover and rebuild.
To be clear, we are not talking about anything fancy. Your donation will help purchase the following very basic items and supplies:
- One or more tents to provide shelter from the sun and other weather.
- Food for the kids
- Sports equipment (e.g. soccer balls) and other similar things to help keep the kids entertained
All of the staff will be volunteers, so 100% of your donation will be put towards things for the kids. Western Union is even waiving their transfer fees as part of the relief effort.
Every day counts, so please donate now.
A $10 donation would be significant and greatly apprecieated.
Thanks!
Joe
