Help Brooks Fight Leukemia!

From the Kats family:
1/20/23-The day our lives changed forever. With tear-filled eyes I write, Brooks has been diagnosed with leukemia. We were completely blindsided by this, we thought they had taken leukemia off the table because he had no " blasts" on his blood slides. The doctor was prepping us for this to be a virus and told us we would be going home Friday afternoon once we got back this FLO test, which she was anticipating being negative. The look in that doctor's eyes will forever be etched into my brain. The look of sadness she had is something I will never forget.
We are completely devastated and lost in this new world we have been hurled into. They call this the "new diagnoses bubble" so much information I never wanted to know about. So much to process and so much to grieve. So very scared.
On Monday (1/23) Brooks will go into surgery for a bone marrow aspersion and biopsy, a lumbar puncture, get a port put in, and his first dose of chemo. Once we get the results back from those things we will have a better idea of what type of leukemia and how aggressive. Then for 29 days, an aggressive chemo regimen and on the 29th day another bone marrow and lumbar puncture to see if he's in remission. Depending on these results Brooks will need chemo for 3-3.5 years.
Please continue to pray. Pray for Brooks to do well during surgery, and for the doctors. Pray that these tests come back showing that the cancer hasn't made it to his bones or spinal fluid. Also keep Liam and Weston in your thoughts and prayers as well. They know "Brooks blood is sick" but they have no idea how much our lives are about to change.
