To be honest, I want to cry. To think of all the children who were depending on me, but won't get toys for Christmas puts butterflies in my stomach.
My name is Minister Larry Hunter. For more than two decades, I have dedicated my life to Memphis' most underserved neighborhoods doing whatever it takes to help everyone feel special.
I hold food drives, talk to gang members, connect youth with male role models, help people without transportation get COVID-19 shots, hold annual toy drives for kids and step in when people are in need no matter the circumstance.
For the last year, day-after-day, I collected toys and put them in a storage bin to deliver to children this Christmas. On Sunday, my volunteers found the chain and lock cut and all the toys gone.
I went and bought some toys yesterday, but I won't be able to get back the 40 bicycles and hundreds of toys for children I spent all those days collecting.
If you find it in your heart to help me make good on my promise to the kids of Orange Mound, please consider donating to this GoFundMe.
